"Homeland" is going to have a minor cast changed for Season 6. The Showtime political drama series, which is in the middle of filming on the streets of New York, has replaced Claire Danes' TV daughter with an older child.
Set sightings reveal that Carrie Mathison's (Danes) daughter, Frannie, with Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) from the early seasons of "Homeland," is now of school age. Claire Danes was actually photographed carrying her growing TV daughter on the set, per Daily Mail.
The young girl who was cast on "Homeland" still has that signature strawberry blonde hair she supposedly inherited from her father. She and Claire Danes were acting out scenes that depicted Carrie Mathison as an involved parent. It looked like mother and child are getting along well and living a typical New York life.
Viewers may recall that Frannie Mathison was born just months after her father was hanged in the Middle East in "Homeland" Season 3, while her mom remained on active duty with the CIA overseas. Unable to handle what has been going on in her life, Carrie left her daughter to the care of her sister, Maggie (Amy Hargreaves).
Carrie's relationship with Frannie on "Homeland" was unstable in the child's first few years, but producers now say that the character will put her child as the priority. TV Line reports Franny will have major presence in "Homeland" Season 6.
However, how long this will last remains to be seen as Daily Mail also reports that F. Murray Abraham as CIA Agent Dar Adal was also spotted on the set with Danes. It's highly likely that the CIA is trying to bring Carrie Mathison back into the fold. The question is, will she give up her family again to serve her country?
