"Homeland" Season 6 has started filming in New York and photos from the set, which features Rupert Friend (Peter Quinn) has been cropping up online. Dressed in loose and shabby clothes, the actor looked quite different, as producers have hinted his character will go through extreme changes. Is Peter Quinn homeless now?
Daily Mail reports that the 34-year-old British actor filmed his scenes for "Homeland" Season 6 on Monday and appeared to be moving stiffly in front of the camera. It should be recalled that Peter Quinn suffered a stroke in "Homeland" last season, which nearly ended his life. Carrie Mathieson (Claire Daines) was even hinted to have pulled the plug on him.
In May, "Homeland" executive producer Alex Gansa revealed that Rupert Friend will actually be back for the new season, but his character won't be the same. "How Peter Quinn's character is gonna be dramatized this year is going to surprise people, and it may not be what you think," said Gansa via Entertainment Weekly.
Peter Quinn's plight will explicitly display the effects of the war on terror. On a more personal level, his relationship with Carrie will also go through a transition in "Homeland" Season 6. However, producers refuse to verify whether this means Carrie and Peter will be ending up together.
Meanwhile, Variety reports that "Prison Break" star Robert Knepper is coming aboard "Homeland" Season 6 in a recurring role as General Jamie McClendon. The general will be working closely with President Elizabeth Keane (Elizabeth Marvel). "Homeland" Season 6 will actually open with the inauguration of the new president of the United States and the transition of the seat of power.
"Homeland" Season 6 is up for a Jan. 15, 2017 premiere on Showtime. Aside from Friend and Danes, original cast member Mandy Patinkin is also returning. The show has already been renewed through Seasons 7 and 8.
