"Marco Polo" Season 3 from Netflix and creator John Fusco seemed a foregone conclusion after a strong S2. However, will the new life breathed into the film adaptation of "The Alchemist" (by novelist Paulo Coelho) cause scheduling problems for John Fusco and "Marco Polo" Season 3?
While Parent Herald cites that John Fusco admits to the "Marco Polo" Netflix series being an obsession, recent activities on "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho may call this to question. Earlier on, John Fusco wrote on From Venice To Xanadu about juggling the "Marco Polo" series for Netflix and his commitment as the scriptwriter for "The Alchemist" under the production of The Weinstein Company.
To date, the script that John Fusco created for "The Alchemist" is the latest version in existence. Although (happily for "Marco Polo" and the Netflix series fans ) work on "The Alchemist" was stalled, John Fusco may now be reeled into renewed efforts by PalmStar Media to mount the Paulo Coelho adaptation.
Yahoo reports that ownership for the rights to "The Alchemist" has been transferred from The Weinstein Company to PalmStar Media for $6.5 million. PalmStar Media seems ready to cash in on "The Alchemist" immediately as, in a schedule that may strain "Marco Polo" commitments with Netflix, production for the Paulo Coelho adaptation is set to begin by mid-2017 with a target of 2018 as release date.
PalmStar Media could just as easily switch to a new script for "The Alchemist" by a different writer and free up John Fusco for "Marco Polo" Season 3 work with Netflix. However, given the tight schedule that PalmStar Media is set on for "The Alchemist," the "Marco Polo" series may have to share its creator with the Paulo Coelho adaptation.
While "Marco Polo" has had other writers work on the episodes of the Netflix series, the main brunt of writing responsibilities still fall on John Fusco. Hopefully, John Fusco is as ready now as he had been in 2014 with a clear plan on how to juggle "The Alchemist" and "Marco Polo" Season 3.
Netflix is yet to confirm the official renewal of "Marco Polo" Season 3, but given the viewership ratings of S2 a mid-2017 release for S3 is anticipated. What event in "Marco Polo" Season 3 are you looking forward to see when Netflix rolls back in with the series?
