UFC President, Dana White, has made it clear that Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will not face each other for another fight, and despite the overall success of the first two bouts, there will no longer be a third.
Despite being the biggest draws in the UFC today, Dana White no longer wants to see a third fight between featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, and Nate Diaz. White, talking on Hot 97, explained that while he respects the fact the McGregor is willing to face anybody, on any given night, a third fight with Diaz, who is two weight classes heavier, just didn't make sense, according to a report from Fox Sports.
White added that because of McGregor's eagerness to fight, regardless of the opponent, is the reason why he allows the Irish champ to fight whoever he wants to fight, but as far as a third fight, White doesn't seem to be too keen on the idea. "I don't know. 1-1's good, they shouldn't have fought in the first place," says White.
The first bout between the "The Notorious" Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz at UFC 196 was one of the most highly anticipated main events in the UFC, as both men were no strangers to trash talking and hyped up the fight. Despite being on short notice, Diaz managed to pull of the upset, giving McGregor his first ever loss in the UFC.
The second time they faced each other, a rematch at UFC 202, where the event beat the first one in terms of pay-per-view buys, making it the highest selling event in the history of the UFC. Both UFC 196 and UFC 202 had a combined number of pay-per-buys north of 3 million, according to Tapology, but despite the soaring numbers, White says that it's time to move on.
McGregor will headline another UFC event, his third of the year, as he fights for the lightweight title against champion, Eddie Alvarez, at UFC 205, in New York, on November 12th.
