The Atlanta Hawks have recently signed point guard Josh Magette, prior to the NBA regular season. The 26-year-old Magette has played overseas and in the NBA's development league before being signed by the Hawks.
The Atlanta Hawks are gathering up different pieces to complete their roster, as they hope to come back even stronger after a decent run in the Eastern Conference in the last season. The Hawks finished the 2015-2016 regular season in 4th place in the East with 48 wins, but were demolished by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the semi-finals of the playoffs, losing 4 straight games.
The Hawks look to bounce back by adding a few more players to their now full roster, with Josh Magette as the last player to complete the 20 man limit. Magette will add some depth to the Atlanta Hawks' point guard position as starting guard, Dennis Schroder, is still healing a sore ankle, and his backup, Jarrett Jack, is currently out of play, due to a torn ACL, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Magette spent the majority of his professional career overseas, after not being selected in the NBA Draft. The 6-foot-1, 160 pound guard played for Landstede Basketball in the Netherlands, as well as the Greek League, where he played for Korovois Amaliadas.
Magette also had a couple of stints with the NBA D-League team, the Los Angeles D-Fenders, where he averaged 11.5 points, 9.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals in 38.0 minutes. He played 45 games in the D-League's 2015-2016, where he was a starter for the D-Fenders. He led the D-league in both assists per game, and steals per game, according to Real GM.
The Hawks will have their first pre-season game against the Memphis Grizzlies at the Fedex Forum.
