iOS 10 Jailbreak Not Reaching The Public? Apple Gives Hackers Real Hard Time

Apple devices are one of the most secured in the market. Still, many owners of iPhones, iPads, and iPod want their devices to be jailbroken so they can do more with it. Apple's latest operating system software, the iOS 10, has been released a couple of weeks back, but a jailbreak version hasn't reached the masses. Why is it taking long?

Hackers have claimed of finally jailbreaking iOS 10, but none has been released to the public. One of the reasons could be the increased security Apple is employing by releasing minor updates to patch up holes in its OS. So when a jailbreak has been successful, it will only last for a while and become useless when Apple rolls out updates.

Hacker Lucas Todesco, 19, is one of the first to claim to have jailbroken an iPhone 7 running iOS 10 in less than 24 hours, as reported by Daily Express. He posted a photo of his jailbroken device on Twitter and uploaded a video as proof of his claim. But while he was successful in jailbreaking his device, Todesco admitted that it was not that easy. "Kudos for the iPhone 7. They have again changed the rules of the game," he said. He refused to share his tool with the public and he said he would work on ironing out the process.

Meanwhile, exploit broker Zerodium has increased its bounty for zero-day exploits for Apple's new iOS 10 from last year's $1 million to $1.5 million. According to Wired, the company said its increased bounty comes as security is also increased for iOS 10, as well as Android 7, and they want to attract more researchers. Zerodium's pricing also reflects the significant time and resources to remotely jailbreak the new OS.

Apple has just released to the developers the second beta of the upcoming iOS 10.1 update. It comes with a new Portrait mode for iPhone 7 Plus, along with bug fixes and improvements to issues found since the iOS 10 has been released.
