Anyone who has watched the 1989 film "Back to the Future" would be entranced by the crazy inventions that they had come up with - most of them we would even consider impossible until now. Well, they may be impossible except for the self-lacing shoes called the "Nike Mag" which Nike has promised to give away 89 pairs of in celebration of the year the film was released and having acquired the technology of making those shoes possible.
Fans got the taste of the "Nike Mag" when Nike presented the first of its kind to Michael J. Fox, the actor who wore the then-fictional shoes in the movie 30 years ago. Since then, fans have been clamoring to have their own pair as well.
Say no more, as Highsnobiety reports that the "Nike Mag" to be released will feature the technology used by another Nike shoe (HyperAdapt) which is the Adaptive Fit. With the Adaptive Fit, "Nike Mag" will automatically adjust (i.e. tightens or loosens) the shoes so that they fit the wearer's feet comfortably.
Nike explains that in order to win one of the 89 pairs of "Nike Mag" to be given away, all one has to do is to buy a ticket which is essentially a donation of $10 to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. This foundation that aims to find a cure for Parkinson's disease.
There is no limit on as to how many tickets can be bought. The more you buy, the more chances of you winning a "Nike Mag." The "Nike Mag" winners will be notified on October 17.
Basically, Nike is hitting all the right notes here by providing what has been dubbed as the "Shoes of the Future" while at the same time help a good cause by funding the research for the cure for Parkinson's disease. With all this, we have to thank Tiffany Beers - the brilliant mind who spearheaded the development of the "Nike Mag".
