Volkswagen: Inception Of An Electric Future

The famous Volkswagen claims that it has created the "Beetle" of the 21st century. This can be hard to believe after observing the automotive organization has been confronted with a heap of lawsuits and financial penalties charged for the notorious diesel gate scandal.

Since then, the company has entirely ceased its supply of diesel models in the U.S and most likely won't be carrying out business operations in this direction ever again in the future. Despite the fallout arising from such unfortunate events, the automaker giant hasn't given up looking forward to envision its future ambitions.

According to PSFK, in the 2016 Motor Show held in Paris, Volkswagen revealed its first concept in line with the electrically powered design. With an amazing showdown of innovative ideas, Volkswagen has conceptualized the I.D, a zero-emission and compact five door hatchback that proposes a unique prototype and offers a glimpse to the electrified future of transport.

The overall design of the newly emerging prototype can be regarded as a bit of an ode to some of Volkswagen's greatest hits. In addition, the new model is injected with the DNA of the renowned and much illustrious "Beetle" model, along with a smoothed-out front fascia. On the other hand, the rear takes up a futuristic look based on the "Golf C-pillar" shape and lift gate.

Volkswagen claims that the new "I.D" will house a 125KW electric motor that has significantly much to offer. With one charge, the car can travel up to 250 to 370 miles without stopping. It is also installed with a fully autonomous driving system that will ensure that the company is on-track with other automotive giants that are planning on releasing self-driven cars very soon.

The I.D concept will be open for production in 2020, according to Tech Crunch. VW fans are quite excited for the upcoming I.D model to be released. Its debut will surely create an uproar in the automobile market; an uproar that might catalyze the transformation of the automotive future.

However, the self-driven mechanism will not be available until at least 2025. By this year, the company has very realistic ambitions of selling a million electric cars annually. Let's hope this vision translates out as a pragmatic outcome that optimizes efficiency for the company and revolutionizes the entire automotive industry. If this pans out, Volkswagen will become the pioneers of the widely popular electric car.
