Another top talent is leaving the daytime soap. Steve Burton has revealed that he is heading out of "The Young and the Restless." But rumors have it that he is going back to "General Hospital" to replace Billy Miller.
Steve Burton last week announced his decision not to renew his contract with "The Young and the Restless" when it expires this coming December. The actor wrote the statement on his official Twitter account, saying that after much consideration, he had decided to end his contract.
Burton, who plays Dylan McAvoy in "The Young and the Restless" since 2013, did not expound on the specific reasons of his departure, but he said, "I've had an amazing time, but it feels right to move on to new adventures in my life." He went on to say thank you to his CBS Y&R family for a great ride and to his fans for all their support.
The 46 years old actor's last date of airing is yet to be revealed. There is also no update yet on whether the role he is leaving will be recast. Steve Burton's exit comes after Justin Hartley left his role as Adam Newman in Y&R to pursue a great opportunity with the new primetime series "This Is Us."
Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that Steve Burton might actually return to his role as Jason Morgan in "General Hospital." The character, which Burton held for 22 years until 2012, is currently being portrayed by Billy Miller. It's quite a little far-fetched, but since it is a soap opera, anything is possible. Steve Burton also appeared in "Out of This World" and "Days of Our Lives."
