After many years of speculating on the possibility of a third installment to Valve's hit first-person shooter "Half-Life," a code for a possible "Half-life:VR" game being developed got leaked in through some of Steam's updates.
According to Gamerant, information about the "leaked" codes for Half-Life: VR came from Valve News Network (VNN) reporting in a video that a certain code referring to something called "HL: VR" was among the new files uploaded in the latest update of Valve's virtual reality (VR) app "Destinations". The latest update of Destinations was last September 26.
VNN, however, reminds viewers that Valve used fragments of Half-Life for VR experimentations before, and these codes could possibly be from their previous experimentations. But VNN also reiterates that previous HL: VR codes found in Destinations have been replaced with new ones.
Another supporting evidence that sthrengthen the possibility of Half -Life: VR being developed came from a recent DOTA 2 update. In the update, a particular code related to HL: VR was found with the intention of having the HL: VR to "speak," according to IGN.
Valve never turned down the idea of a Half-Life game in the virtual reality space, VNN said in the video. However Valve's Chet Faliszek said that Half-Life 3 will not be in VR, bringing to light that Half-life: VR could be a possible spin-off game.
Half -Life 2 was released in 2004 and was an instant hit due to its physics engine and animation, as well as its storyline. Half-Life 2 has been named "Game of the year" numerous times since its release and was even named "Game of the Decade in 2012.
The Half-Life series follows the games protagonist Gordon freeman, a scientist who will need to fight his way through a hoard of alien species in order to save planet eat from invasion. Half-life 2 had two expansion packs: Half-Life: Episode One, and Half-Life: Episode two.
