With a TV series adaptation already in the works, Neil Gaiman's award-winning Novel "American Gods" will also be getting a comic book adaptation for release early next year.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Dark Horse comics is going to handle the upcoming comic-adaptation of Gaiman's Novel. "Today, Dark Horse is excited to announce the adaptation of American Gods into comic book form," the announcement said.
"American Gods" is going to be the latest addition to Dark Horse's growing graphic-novel library of work by Neil Gaiman. Adaptations of "How To Talk To Girls At Parties," "Troll Bridge" and "Forbidden Brides" by Neil Gaiman are already published by Dark Horse.
The comic book adaptation will be written and laid out by P. Craig Russell, who has worked on Gaiman's "Coraline" and "The Graveyard Book" and is very familliar with the British author's material. While Scott Hampton, known for his art in Dark Horse's "Batman" and "Hellboy" comics, will be handling the art of "American Gods."
Neil Gaiman himself is known in the comic book industry. Neil Gaiman expressed his excitement at the upcoming comic book adaptation.
One of his most notable comic series is "The Sandman." This is currently being published by Vertigo.
"I've been watching P. Craig Russell breaking down the book into comic form, watching Scott Hampton painting the pages, watching Glenn Fabry create the covers, and grinning to myself with delight, because the American Gods comic is going to be an astonishing, faithful, and beautiful adaptation." He said according to Enterainment weekly.
An "American Gods" TV series is also scheduled for a release next year in Starz. The "American Gods" TV adaptation is handled by Bryan Fuller.
Bryan Fuller is known for his TV series "Hannibal" and "Star Trek: Discovery." As with "American Gods" these are scheuled for release on spring 2017.
CBR.com also explains that the "American Gods" comic book will have 27 single issues. "American Gods" will be divided into three arcs namely: "Shadows", "My Ainsel" and "The Moment of the Storm".
