Sony, one of the leading mobile phone brands have made TWRP feature available on their high end phones such as "Sony Xperia X Performance" released June 2016 and "Sony Xperia XZ" a week ago. Another great innovation by Sony to improve their Android devices for Android users.
For the less tech savvy, according to Addictive Tips, it is TeamWin Recovery Project is initially developed by Nexus technologies and is full touch-based customer recovery that is now available to other Android devices when it was first used back in 2011. A custom recovery enables an Android user to perform several tasks from creating full backups to flashing ROMs or Read Only Memory.
Based on Android Community, the structure for both models are relatively the same which explains why it was fast for "Sony Xperia XZ". TWRP didn't have to do so much re-engineering. On the downside though, TWRP aggressively reminds owners of both "Sony Xperia X Performance" and considered a counterpart "Sony Xperia XZ" that such models use FOTAKernel method in booting and restarting the device. For TWRP to be used in its full potential, owners of such phones are asked to use a custom ROM that supports FOTAKernel method. These methods are the likes of OmniRom and CyanogenMod to name a few.
With Sony's phones as "Sony Xperia X Performance" and "Sony Xperia XZ" having installed TWRP, wiping, restoring and having different device partitions such as system, boot, cache and storage are also supported. It is possible to determine if an Android user has TWRP installed by turning the phone off then hold volume key down by pressing power to turn it back on. It should prompt to a boot loader screen. It will show if there is indeed TWRP installed on the device or none.
Having TWRP in Sony's phones such as "Sony Xperia X Performance" and another state-of-the art phone as "Sony Xperia XZ" puts the brand on the lead in terms of the most up-to-date and advanced technologies available for any mobile phone device.
