Marvel's "The Defenders" is about to start filming for Netflix and recently, the show announced that "Alien" icon Sigourney Weaver will be in the series. There have also been speculations that while "The Defenders" is supposed to fight as a team, there could be a potential clash between two of its main characters -- Daredevil and Luke Cage. What can fans expect from the first season offering of the series?
Sigourney Weaver's addition in "The Defenders" on Netflix has fans of the Marvel shows excited. Speculations have already cropped up about her potential role as the villain. She might either be playing Viper, Silvermane or The Beast of the Hand, according to IGN. Netflix has yet to announce additional details about the actress' casting.
Sigourney Weaver was introduced to a crowd of fans at the New York Comic Con panel for "The Defenders" over the weekend. "She's a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast alongside Charlie, Krysten, Mike and Finn," Netflix executive Cindy Holland said, according to TV Line.
Meanwhile, as filming for "The Defenders" will soon roll, there have also been speculations that the character of The Punisher/Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) will make his appearance. Thus, a potential conflict between Daredevil/Matt Murdoch (Charlie Cox) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) could arise from this storyline.
Viewers of "Daredevil" in Season 2 might recall that the superhero wasn't exactly happy with the way The Punisher deals with criminals, when the latter character was introduced in the series. But Luke Cage has a different take on this. "I don't get blood on my hands but I won't stop him from taking out dirtbags," the star of "Luke Cage" Mike Colter said, according to Comic Book.
