Shailene Woodley is not letting her apprehension stop her from the cause she believes in. The actress broke her silence over the matter after being arrested in North Dakota due to criminal trespassing.
Woodley took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to talk about her stance against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The arrest of Woodley was documented as she has been filming the protest that took place earlier this week and aired it via Facebook Live. In it, she was seen being handcuffed and taken into custody.
Woodley was booked into the Morton County Jail for hours before she was released. "The Fault In Our Stars" actress said in one part of the video that she and some other people were walking back to her RV so that they can go back to camp peacefully but an officer grabbed her by her jacket and said that she was not allowed to continue. She noted that the officers have giant guns, batons, and zip ties. They also won't let her go and she questioned why she was being arrested, E! News reported.
She wrote on Instagram the following message: "One day, baby, we'll sing our poetry. The words dripping from our tongues wet with ripened patience." She added that the fruits born from the seeds of their aging hands will be sown. She also used the hashtags "#alwaysinallways," "#heartforward," "#uptous," "#NoDAPL," "#protectcleanwater," and "#iamonyourside."
Her representative confirmed that she was released from jail and said that Woodley appreciates the outpouring support not only for her but also for the fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
The Morton County Sheriff said in a statement that Woodley was one of those arrested and 26 more were taken into custody, US Weekly reported.
It is believed that the Dakota Access Pipeline will ruin the lands of the native American and the environment in general. The construction has been halted as per court order due to the protests from the people.
