Bullying may seem shallow but as the years passed, it is already being looked upon as it is one of the causes of suicide among children as young as nine. It is important for parents to understand what bullying is, as it can help them address the issue.
Most parents don't pay attention when it comes to their child's bully at school. Though it may not entirely mean that they neglect their children, there are several instances that a child is too afraid to speak up but causes the tension to build-up, causing the child to develop depression and anxiety.
Parents may not be with their child from 60 to 80 percent of the time. It is, however, important to listen to them every time you'd get a chance. It is important to encourage and motivate one's child, especially if he/she is being picked on for being unique.
It is important that parents would constantly communicate with their children. Huffington Post revealed that one of the most important things about bullying is making the child feel that it is not his/her fault that she is being picked on. Laurie Levy, the founding director of Cherry Preschool stated that parents should encourage their children that they don't have to be someone they're not just to be accepted.
Levy then added that parents have every right to intervene to address the situation. Parents should stand up for their children, and not just expect them to "toughen up." It was mentioned that parents with younger children being bullied by bigger children should intervene as constant bullying can negatively affect young children.
Parent Herald previously revealed that LGBT children are the ones usually being taunted in school. It is important for parents to make them feel safe, accepted and protected at all times. It was then mentioned that bullying greatly increased the suicide rate among teenagers, with a larger numbers of LGBT teens.
