NBA Trade Rumors: San Antonio Spurs Forming Eyeing Russell Westbrook And DeMarcus Cousins To Beat Golden State Warriors?

San Antonio Spurs is a contender in the NBA league in the past season. However, the team is slowly losing their big three. Reports have it that Spurs are building up their team again and are considering OKC Thunder Russell Westbrook and Sacramento Kings' DeMarcus Cousins.

This offseason San Antonio Spurs has begun their journey of filling the void that Tim Duncan left the team. Spurs lose Duncan to retirement and the remaining two players of their big three, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are expected to retire from their NBA career soon.

At the time, San Antonio Spurs are left with LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard. However, the NBA critics think that the two are not enough to beat the strongest contender in the West, the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors have the ideal roster in the NBA league today. If things will work smoothly among its NBA All-Star players Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the team will be unbeatable.

Due to this, San Antonio Spurs is planning to acquire Russell Westbrook and DeMarcus Cousins. Both have been a regular in the NBA trade rumor mills and chances are high that they will be wearing a new jersey in the future.

Per Yibada, San Antonio Spurs can acquire both, two years from now. Russell Westbrook can opt out from his three-year deal with Oklahoma City Thunder at the end of the 2017-18 NBA season. Meanwhile, DeMarcus Cousins contract with Sacramento Kings will also expire at the same time.

However, between Russell Westbrook and DeMarcus Cousins, the former has higher chances to be with Spurs. The OKC Thunder point guard is a promising replacement for the declining Tony Parker. In addition, Boogie has attitude issues, which might hinder a good teamwork with LaMarcus Aldridge.

How do you find this arrangement? Is it possible for San Antonio Spurs to acquire DeMarcus Cousins and Russell Westbrook at the same time? Will both players make Spurs a power team in the Western Conference against the Warriors? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
