Huawei Mate 9 Release Date, News & Updates: New Smartphone To Debut On November; Design Copied From Samsung?

Huawei Mate 9 is rumored to launch next month in Munich, Germany. Although it may not be the cream of the crop, it can, in some peculiar way or another, elbow some of its bigger rivals.

Take the case of Huawei Mate 9. The Chinese Smartphone maker has been a standard in releasing an array of handhelds, with the Mate lineup as its frontline. Its design, features and specifications are often too common and will not immediately impress a consumer, but Huawei Mate 9 can provide a subtle alternative for those who want to own a Samsung-esque device without hurting their wallet.

Rumors are now spreading that Huawei is set to release a new smartphone in their upcoming event in Germany. Many insiders believe that this could be the Huawei Mate 9. As reported by Value Walk, Huawei teased the upcoming device with a humble poster with a hashtag, "#AStepAhead". It also included 03.11.16 as the date and Munich as the venue for the announcement.

Huawei hasn't released an official statement whether or not the Mate 9 will indeed be unveiled next month. In one hand, Huawei Mate 9 teaser poster offered little truth about what's going to happen in Munich. On the other, Value Walk added that "there is no mention of a different device that could be set for launch" from Huawei.

On the flipside, tech website Android Police blasted the Huawei Mate 9 design, saying that it "shamelessly rips off Samsung's edge devices". According to them, the flagship Mate 9, with its "most premium specifications" and curved screen, "looks almost exactly like the Galaxy Note 7", or an S7 Edge, to be more blunt. Even the logo placement, sensors shadows that of Sammy's torchbearers.

The Huawei Mate 9 is speculated to sport a 5.9inch, 1080p display screen, alongside a soon be released HiSilicon Kirin 960 chip. Potential owner will also have the option to go 6GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage, while its 20megapixel primary camera and 12megapixel front facing clicker should take care of the phone's image processing. Huawei Mate 9 will also support Daydream VR and should come in two variants, the "Manhattan" and the "Long Island".
