Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S7 Comparison: Could Galaxy S7 Pass As An Alternative To Pixel?

Google Pixel is undeniably one of the highly anticipated smartphones of this year. Samsung Galaxy S7, on the other hand, received a boost in sales as some users opt to get a Galaxy S7 after the Galaxy Note 7's downfall. But with the impending release of Pixel in stores on Oct. 20, users may need to check on the specs of both handsets to determine which of the flagship devices would suit them best.

When it comes to software, Pixel takes the lead as it runs on the newest version of Android 7.1 Nougat while the Galaxy S7 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Additionally, Pixel's hardware is also advanced as it is powered by Snapdragon 821 processor while a Snapdragon 820 powers the Galaxy S7 in the United States. Galaxy S7 devices outside the U.S., however, are powered by Samsung's Exynos 8890 chipset.

Both the Galaxy S7 and Pixel are integrated with 4GB of RAM and the base storage capacity of both handsets are also the same at 32GB. However, Pixel has an increased storage option of 128GB without expansion support while the Galaxy S7 offers a 64GB option which is expandable up to 256GB through microSD.

As for the cameras, Google claims that Pixel has the best camera that the company has developed, BGR reported. So, Pixel is advanced with a 12.3MP back camera and 8MP front shutter. The Galaxy S7 cameras, on the other hand, are 12MP on its rear and 5MP on its front.

Meanwhile, Samsung has reportedly increased the production of the Galaxy S7 to compensate for the suspension of the Galaxy Note 7 due to its battery explosive tendencies, Asia News Network reported. However, the battery of the Galaxy S7 is apparently not affected by the issue.

Both Pixel and Galaxy S7 promise efficient and longer battery life. Google claims that Pixel can be charged with seven hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. The Galaxy S7, on the other hand, has a built-in wireless charging feature that also supports fast charging.
