"Iron Man 4" release date rumors just won't stop. Proving that fans can't get enough of Robert Downey Jr.'s portrayal of the genius philanthropist Tony Stark, several predictions and theories for a fourth solo flick have saturated the web.
While Marvel has yet to confirm whether "Iron Man 4" is a done deal and will be underway, many believe that a new standalone movie is a possibility. The question is not if but when, most fans argue.
Several fans believe that Marvel could actually green light the production, but the movie might not be included in the MCU phase 3. As a fan in a Reddit forum suggested, audiences might get "Iron Man 2020" in the MCU phase 4, and this will be the reported "Iron Man 4" movie.
According to user MCUfeld, the new movie could have a younger hero as a successor to Tony Stark, or Tony could actually use the Time Stone to "de-age." This way fans will get to have a younger Tony Stark in "Iron Man 4" avoiding a reboot.
Rumors have been rife that should "Iron Man 4" gets the go signal, RDJ could not be part of it anymore. As previous reports claimed, the MCU veteran might be too old to take on the role a few years down the road. Apart from his age, many are also concerned that Marvel might not be willing to pay him the salary he wants.
As of writing, RDJ is expected to reprise his role as Tony Stark in the upcoming "Avengers: Infinity War." Fans continue to await more details whether he will back in future MCU flicks or in another standalone movie.
