Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Talks about Girlfriend, Daughter: 'Home Life is Solid'

"San Andreas" actor, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, has had an illustrious career as a wrestler and box-office movie star. But there isn't much about his family life that people know about. The actor recently opened up to Esquire to say that this will have to change.

In the magazine's August issue, where the actor graces the cover feature, Johnson revealed that there was something he needed to get off his chest. "We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn't mentioned and my daughter isn't mentioned," he started out.

Johnson, 43, then goes on to say that he's been with his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, a singer-songwriter, for at least eight years now and they spend a lot of time with his daughter, Simone, 13, together. "I always like making sure we find the balance and my home life is in there and Lauren Hashian is in there and my daughter is in there."

Simone Alexander is Dwayne's daughter with Dany Garcia, his former wife. They have been married for 10 years before divorcing in 2007. The two, however, remain good friends, People Magazine reported.

He prods the Esquire writer, Scott Raab, to put the information about his girlfriend and daughter in print saying, "You gotta get the better half in there. With all the cool shit and success that I've been lucky enough to get? That doesn't happen unless the home life is solid."

His love for family has always been evident since he first started out in wrestling. Dwayne recalled how his own father, Rocky Johnson, a Hall of Famer at the WWE, would train him in the ring. "My dad didn't break anything on me, but he grinded me out every day for months." He also recounted how his uncles would work with him to improve his skills. It was the only thing his family knew how to do, so when he shifted to acting, he first had doubts if he could make it in this other career. This was before he met Lauren.

These days, Dwayne is one of Hollywood's most bankable stars and is considered as an A-Lister, according to New York Daily News. He's also the star of a new HBO TV show he himself produced called "Ballers."

"I've never gone wrong trusting my gut. It was really the only thing that I had going into acting," Dwayne shares to Esquire when asked about his acting success.

He continues, "You can get great people around you, smart minds and great resources, but it's still from here [points to heart]. "
