Stress can either contribute to weight loss or weight gain. For chronic stress in couples, however, it was revealed that the stressful partner is often subjected to weight loss while the other tends to gain weight. Obesity can be fueled by stress but according to studies, it can affect people close to the stressed individual as well.
Daily Mail mentioned that researchers delve deeper into couples' relationships as they study the correlation of stress among partners. It was mentioned that couples tend to have a high impact on each other's physical and mental health.
The study from the University of Michigan published a finding where it was mentioned that spouses are at risk of weight gain when their partner is stressed. It was then mentioned that women are more affected by men in terms of stress absorption, thus they are subjected to weight gain.
The study came into conclusion that women are at risk by 70 percent if their partner's stress levels would shoot up. Compared to their partners, men also tend to gain a few pound if their partner is exhausted and anxious but the effect is not too strong compared to the latter.
