Google Assistant, a talkative app that comes with Google's new Pixel smartphones, can be downloaded in Android Nougat devices. Google Assistant is one of the coolest things about Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
Google Assistant is more powerful and advanced than Google Now, which can hold conversations with the user, something the latter cannot. Google Assistant has the ability to understand the context without veering off topic. The user can do two-way dialogue as per NDTV.
Pixel and Pixel XL, exclusively made by Google, are the first smartphones to include Google Assistant. Users keen about Google Assistant had to buy Google Pixel smartphones, while some have users claim that it is possible to add the Google Assistant to existing hardware by "delving into root and bootloaders," the Express.co.uk reported.
Although, Android experts have tried using Google Assistant in non-Pixel phones, Google has not released anything in official. If the user tries to follow the below mentioned procedure to install Google Assistant, then back-up should be taken care. If the user is not sure of doing it, then do not try.
Before trying this, the first step is to uninstall Google App from the device and download these three .zip files and copy them to phone's internal storage.
The second step would be to reboot the phone into recovery mode and navigate to install within the custom recovery menu and install "GoogleAssistantVelvet.zip" and "GoogleAssistantBuildProp.zip." The third is rebooting the device after installation.
Fourth, once the device reboots, the user needs to manually grant permission to use the microphone and other accessories by heading to the Apps section of the phone's Settings. Finally, in the Settings app, find Google, tap Permissions and enable the necessary permissions.
Now, long press on the virtual Home Button to talk to the Google Assistant. Stay tuned for more updates.
