HP News & Update: OMEN 17 Needs A Little Improvement But Still A Good Laptop To Have For 2017!

Gamers certainly have a good number of gaming laptop options to choose from. HP recently launched HP OMEN 17 which has a mix of good and not-so-good reviews.

According to PC World, HP OMEN 17 does carry the famous OMEN brand and a good number of hits here and there suggesting that it is a gaming laptop but other than that, it is considered plain and bland. It is supposed to be the red backlight or oversized exhaust that suggests that H OMEN 17 is a gaming inside, but what is inside.

The previous generation of OMEN gaming laptops used Nvidia's GEForce GTX 965m GPU and 4K screen reportedly made no sense. The new HP OMEN 17 is better with using GeForce GTX 1070 GPU. At least it uses the next to the fastest which is GeForce GTX 1080.

The HP OMEN 17 comes with Intel quad-core Core i7-6700HQ CPU, a 4K G-Sync panel, 1GB of DDR4/2133 RAM, a 256GB M.2 NVMe drive and 1TB hard drive for huge storage space. Gamers who are looking for Optical Drive will be disappointed but it comes with USB optical drive in the box.

HP OMEN 17's most overlooked feature though is the camera. HP OMEN 17 has an Intel Real-Sense Camera. The Intel Real-Sense camera is capable of sensing depth and used to create that green screen and automatically clip out the background.

To add to this, Tech Crunch reported that the touch pad, screen hinge and power brick are some of HP OMEN 17's disappointing errors. The HP OMEN 17 also has a wobbly screen. The touch pad that comes with HP OMEN 17 is also considered useless. It is suggested to instead invest on a gaming mouse and not rely on the touch pad.

If the size and the weight of HP OMEN 17 is not bothersome, then one can consider the device. For a gamer particular with specs and other more advanced features, there are other better options.
