‘How I Met Your Mother’ Reunion Possible? Jason Segel ‘Completely On Board’

"How I Met Your Mother" wrapped in 2014 after running on CBS since 2005. The nine-season series had plenty of highs and lows, especially when it was nearing its conclusion. Numerous fans were outraged over the sitcom's ending and a "How I Met Your Dad" spinoff wasn't picked up by CBS.

Since the series ended, its cast -- Neil Patrick Harris (Barney), Josh Radnor (Ted), Cobie Smulders (Robin), Jason Segel (Marshall), and Alyson Hannigan (Lily) -- went on to take high-profile roles and left their "How I Met Your Mother" alter egos behind. Segel, however, revealed at the Austin Film Festival that he's "completely on board" for a "How I Met Your Mother" reunion should one ever happens, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The actor said that the sitcom changed his life and he'd be down for whatever the "How I Met Your Mother" crew wants to do. He added that he has no idea about what direction a possible reunion would head to but he trusts the writers.

"One of the great things about my relationship to that show is I never got involved in the writing, I just tried to execute what these brilliant writers did, so I would leave that to them, as usual," Segel added, as quoted by THR.

"How I Met Your Mother" could continue as a limited series or a movie but it's highly possible that viewers would oppose the idea. It appears that the sitcom overstayed its welcome and it was "clear by the end that the writers were just about out of original ideas," Screen Rant wrote.

"How I Met Your Mother" is known for its continuities and flashbacks, with the characters' lives decades from now already explored. There's not much else to tackle if a reunion happens.

Smulders said that the "How I Met Your Mother" crew is "a lovely group" and that the series had a "great script," ABC News reported. Smulders stars as Maria Hill in Marvel Cinematic Universe films and has recently partnered with Tom Cruise in "Jack Reacher: Never Come Back,"

"I feel like starring in a TV show is such a fun thing. You join together and you do this pilot and you don't want to jinx anything because everyone gets along really well," the actress added.

Smulders shared that she always sees Harris (who will star in Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events" as Count Olaf) because he lives in New York like her. She can't say the same thing for her other "How I Met Your Mother" castmates, who all reside in Los Angeles.
