Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods' on Starz: 'Orange Is The New Black' Star Pablo Schreiber Is Mad Sweeney

"Orange Is The New Black" star Pablo Schreiber--best identified for his role as the abusive correctional officer, George "Pornstache" Mendez--will be seen yet again on the small screen. The award-winning actor will be reprising the character of Mad Sweeney in Starz' adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "American Gods."

In a report by Hollywood Reporter, the "Orange Is The New Black" star and the other cast members of Neil Gaiman's fantasy classic already began filming "American Gods." There, Schreiber will be the alcohol-dependent leprechaun who serves for Mr. Wednesday played by Ian McShane.

The last time Schreiber worked as a screen actor was with "Orange Is The New Black", from which he received an Emmy nomination for the Outstanding Guest Actor in 2015. As previously reported by Parent Herald, the mustache-totting Schreiber might be coming back for "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5, as he might possibly meet with his lady love, Daya Diaz (Dascha Polanco), in the maximum security unit.

Until the speculation has been proven, it's best for Schreiber fans can wait for what's confirmed--his participation in "American Gods". The 38-year-old star will be joined in "American Gods" by co-actors Ricky Whittle as the ex-convict protagonist Shadow Moon, Gillian Anderson as Media, Crispin Glover as Mr. World, Jonathan Tucker as Low Key Lyesmith and Beth Grant as Jack the bar owner per E! Online.

Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" is an award-winning novel released in 2001 which tells the story of Shadow Moon. The protagonist of "American Gods" tugs between the line of two gods for the sake of worship, after he was released from prison as Entertainment Weekly reports. Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" is an amalgam of fantasy and ancient and modern mythology.

The title has won Hugo Award for Best Novel and is being helmed by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. "American Gods" will be available on Starz in 2017.
