The parents of an infant boy in Maryland have been arrested and charged after the baby died in the hands of his own father last month. Accordingly, the father beat his son to death as the baby won't stop crying.
The father, identified as 32-year-old Antoine Petty, was charged with two counts of murder. His wife, 24-year-old Geneice Petty, was charged with being an accessory to the crime. People reported that the parents, who were living in Greenbelt, Maryland, were arrested only a month after their son's death. The baby's body was found in a shallow grave behind a local high school earlier last week.
Prince George's County Police Department said in a statement that the baby, Antoine Flemons, was only three months old. He died on Sept. 21. Antoine Petty reportedly carried the infant out of their apartment in the balcony then started to punch the baby in the chest. He was allegedly attempting to silence the baby. The baby then kept screaming after the father punched him repeatedly outside of the home so the father took him back inside and punched him more.
Detectives revealed that the beating only stopped after the infant began bleeding from his mouth and nose. The parents tried to get the baby to respond but were unsuccessful. They then put the body of the three-month-old baby in the back of their car for 24 hours. Eventually, Antoine Petty and Geneice took the baby's lifeless body at the back of a high school and placed the remains in a shallow grave.
Authorities said that the area where the body was buried remained covered for weeks but it was uncovered on Monday last week. Accordingly, the relatives called the cops on the parents. The relatives said that it has been weeks since they saw the child and that whenever they asked the parents about the whereabouts of Antoine Flemons, Antoine Petty and Geneice said the baby was with some friends.
Investigators then questioned the parents of the three-month-old baby boy and Antoine Petty allegedly confessed to the beating. Antoine Petty is now held without the possibility of bail while Geneice is being held at a $120,000 bond, The Washington Post reported.
According to the grandmother of Geneice, she is a victim of domestic violence and called Antoine Petty the wrong man to be with her granddaughter. The mother of Geneice also believes her daughter is suffering from Battered Woman Syndrome.
