The "Girl on the Train" is another addition to the long list of bestselling novels that has been turned into a movie or TV series. Though the book itself (authored by Paula Hawkin) is already a hit, casting Emily Blunt to play the role of the alcoholic protagonist, Rachel Watson further helped the movie become a box office success.
Prior to release, the intriguing movie trailer starring Emily Blunt created a buzz, making more people curious about what is said to be the most shocking thriller of the year. The actual film though failed to meet expectations as it did not fare well in the reviews.
The movie is criticized for being confusing and that towards the end, viewers are left with still a few unanswered questions. One question is how does Emily Blunt's character in the story get to have the same seat every day. In an interview with Huffington Post, Emily Blunt clarified that her character only gets to sit on her favored spot most days, but not every day.
Emily Blunt added that maybe, Rachel's life is so dull that she only gets on the train during off-peak hours so she gets to pick her seat. "The Girl on the Train" is also compared to another novel-turned-movie, "Gone Girl." The actress said she understands why many think the two movies have many similarities but said the two protagonists in the story are very different.
In spite of the average review, 48% in Rotten Tomatoes, no one would argue that Emily Blunt gave an outstanding performance in the film. In fact, a post from GoldDerby said that Emily Blunt's role in "Girl on The Train" could score her an Oscar's Best Actress award
Another unforgettable movie of Emily Blunt is "Devil Wears Prada" where she worked with Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. In the same interview by Huffington Post, Emily Blunt said she will clearly entertain a "Devil Wears Prada" part two. The actress though thinks the sequel should be able to surpass the first version.
