NBA News And Updates: Yi Jianlian Asks Lakers To Release Him; Player Doesn't Like How Things Are Going With The Lakers?

Yi Jianlian is asking the Lakers to waive him before the official NBA games start. Yi.Jianlian wants to get out of the Lakers due to the fact that everything is not working out between Yi and the Lakers.

In a press released by the CBS Sports, Adrian Panadian reported that Yi Jianlian is asking the Lakers to release him out of the team. The decision was made last early this Monday and Yi was claiming that he wants to pursue other opportunities. This was also with the fact that role he expects is not going well.

Yi Jianlian was last seen in an official NBA action last 2012 NBA season as he played with the Dallas Mavericks. After his 1-year contract with the Mavericks, Yi went back to China and played with the Guangdong Southern Tigers, until he signed with the Lakers for a 1 year non-guaranteed contract.

Yi Jianlian was drafted sixth by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2007 NBA Draft. Yi was traded to the New Jersey Nets the next season and played a big role as he averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds per contest on his 2nd season with the Nets. Yi Jianliann also played 1-year with the Washington Wizards before becoming a member of the Dallas Mavericks.

According to the ESPN, Yi Jianlian will be formally waived this Monday as well. As Yi is about to leave the Los Angeles Lakers, this will open up an opportunity for other players to have a guaranteed spot for the 15-man roster that the Lakers need to complete.

Metta World Peace would have the chance to take the spot that Yi Jianlian will vacate this Monday. But there is another NBA player that might seem to be a strong contender for the spot, the veteran power forward Thomas Robinson.

Both Metta World Peace and Thomas Robinson are great defenders and rebounders. But when it comes to reliability due to the age and potential, it may seem to be Robinson would take the spot on the Lakers' available spot.
