Amy Schumer Receives Backlash After Beyonce's 'Formation' Parody With Goldie Hawn

Amy Schumer is now in hot water after making a parody of Beyonce's "Formation." The comedienne teamed up with legendary actress Goldie Hawn in the said parody.

Many of Beyonce's fans were not happy with Amy Schumer's choice to make a parody of Beyonce's hit song from her album, "Lemonade." The majority of the backlash was pointing to Amy Schumer as being racist.

"Formation" was a song from Beyonce's album which talks about black women empowerment. Many who criticized Amy Schumer pointed out the actress was not aware of the cultural significance of the song. Others thought she was "racist" for making a joke out of something that was intended to raise encouragement of young black women.

It was reported that Twitter users began using #AmySchumerGottaGoParty to express their thoughts about the parody. Others began looking for her past tweets that apparently showed racism.

Goldie Hawn joined the said parody. The legendary actress joined Amy Schumer in mimicking Beyonce's dance moves. They were also seen twerking while wearing khaki outfits. The Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn "Formation" parody was released last Friday.

Interestingly, the video was released on Tidal, a company owned by Jay-Z who happens to be Beyonce's husband. Apart from Tidal, the parody was also released on Amy Schumer's Youtube channel where the dislike was three times higher than the likes.

The whole video was done in what seemed as a jungle on an island. According to Amy Schumer, the said video was indeed taken at "an island" as reported by Daily Mail.

Amy Schumer was with Wanda Sykes and Joan Cusack on the said island at the time based on the comedienne's tweet. Apparently, Amy Schumer is on the island working on her new comedy film "Mother/Daughter" in Hawaii.

Goldie Hawn is also joining the actress in the movie. This would be her comeback to acting after 15 years of hiatus. The last time she was out was back in 2002.

The original music video for Beyonce's "Formation" was first launched in January. The video was set in a flooded New Orleans and made a few references to the Black Lives Matter movement.

As of now, Amy Schumer has not yet commented on the backlash she received. However, she had posted videos and pictures of her on her Instagram account.
