"World of Warcraft" community is growing impatient to hear about the future of the MMO. Blizzcon 2016 is just round the corner and Blizzard is under tremendous pressure to make a statement about "World of Warcraft." Blizzard's plans for legacy servers are viewed with interest. A year ago, Blizzard had shut down a custom vanilla server by the name of Nostalrius. This did not go well with the "World of Warcraft" fans. The studio went ahead to participate in discussions regarding official support for those who want to play vanilla "World of Warcraft."
It is anticipated by the Nostalrius community that the studio will make some announcement at the Blizzcon. Blizzard, on the other hand, has ruled out any announcement as of now. The community reacted by stating on its website that "if Blizzard doesn't make an announcement to honor their own core values, be sure that we will".
"We've seen some talk among the community that you might be expecting to hear some news on legacy servers at BlizzCon, and we just wanted to take a moment to let you know that while we're still discussing the possibility, we won't have any updates to share on that until after the show," a post by Blizzard says, reported PCGamer.
The company went ahead to state that currently they will focus on how the team is committed to making sure that a steady stream of content is available. The studio also expressed its desire to announce what is in store next, reported GameRant.
Blizzard's announcement does not touch the topic related to the legacy servers. Blizzard is taking time to appease hungry vanilla enthusiasts. The studio has definitely not forgotten about the legacy servers. However, it sure is not going to make any major announcement in the near future.
