Creators of the popular mobile game, "Pokemon Go" will not let the first Halloween that the game is available to pass by without a bang. Thus the game developer of "Pokemon Go," Niantic recently announced a special event that will thrill folks who love catching Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and other pocket monsters. With such news, trick and treats this year will surely be more exciting.
According to a post in The Mary Sue, the in-game Halloween special will take place from Oct. 26 and will end on Nov 1. The upcoming event for "Pokemon Go" enthusiasts promises fun rewards and bonuses.
So what is in store for "Pokemon Go" players? Apparently for this Halloween event, players will see more of Gengar, Drowzee, Haunter, Gastly, and Zubat - those who are referred to as the "spookiest pokemon."
Moreover, for the event duration, players can earn double rewards and more candy for catching new pokemon. If that is not enough, those with a buddy pokemon setup will earn even more bonus points.
"Pokémon Go" was first released in the US in August this year and because of its massive popularity, the number of downloads ballooned overnight. Just a week after the game is made available in Google Play and Apple Apps store, the number of players climbed up to 15 million, according to an article published in BBC. Lately though, the number of players and downloads are noticeably declining and so the latest "Pokemon Go" event for Halloween 2016 hopes to revive the public's interest in the game.
