According to recent reports, viewers will soon see the "Inception" star portray the role of one of the most influential personalities in the music industry, Sam Phillips.
A post from Variety reported that aside from playing the lead role, Leonardo DiCaprio is also set to produce the Sam Phillips biopic. The said movie will be co-produced with Jennifer Davisson, Ian Montone, Steve Bing, Rick Yorn, and Victoria Pearman. Pete Guralnick who authored the autobiography of Sam Phillips will also be one of the producers.
The Sam Phillips movie seems set to have a stellar production team since Mick Jagger will also be part of it. This film that will star Leonardo DiCaprio will be Mick Jagger's next project after his show in HBO, "Vinyl" had to be cut off after the first season.
Sam Phillips is said to be the man behind the success of music legends such as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash. The production is said to be currently on the lookout for a writer and a director. As of this writing, no information about the release date of the biopic is given.
The Sam Phillips biopic though is not the only thing in Leonardo DiCaprio's plate as a post from the Guardian reveals the actor's many plans. A documentary about climate change which he produced "Before the Flood" recently opened in US cinemas.
It was also reported that Leonardo DiCaprio wants to make a movie adaptation of the cartoon series, "Captain Planet. Meanwhile, the "Titanic" star also expressed intention to adapt the book "Truevine" which features two black brothers who were forced to act in a circus into a movie.
