Pixar and Disney have some good news for the fans of the hit animated film, "The Incredibles." The latest announcement from the film studios confirmed an earlier release for "The Incredibles 2" in June 15, 2018. This latest development has a catch though as it would mean moviegoers have to wait almost two years more to see another much anticipated film, "Toy Story 4" which is slated for release around June 2019.
As published in the Hollywood Reporter, the film outfits are trying to rush the production of "The Incredibles 2", thus the decision to swap the release dates of the two movies, "Toy Story 4" and "The Incredibles 2." Writer Emily Lackey, in post published in the Bustle interprets this news positively by saying that fast tracking the production of "The Incredibles 2" could only mean that the movie has an excellent script and Disney and Pixar can't wait to offer it to the public.
"The Incredibles" which first hit the theaters in 2004 features a family of superheroes which in order to enjoy a peaceful suburban life need to keep their superpowers hidden. This movie directed by Brad Bird was a box-office success with gross net of $633 million on its first theatrical run.
Aside from bringing in huge profit, "The Incredibles" received critical commendation as well with recognition such as the 2004 Annie Award for Best Animated Feature and also became the first animated film to be given the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation. "The Incredibles" also bagged two Academy Awards in 2004.
In spite of the film's success, it took Pixar about ten years to announce a spinoff for the movie, "The Incredibles." The announcement for the sequel was made by Bob Iger, the CEO of Walt Disney Company in Mar 2014 which then scheduled a June 2019 release date.
