Google has announced that the reported halo lens flare effect is about to be addressed in order to reaffirm the company's statement that the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones have the best handset camera around.
Users have reported the problem about a disturbing halo lens effect in pictures that were shot in bright light. The said lens flare is sometimes not obvious, but in most photos taken in outdoor, it becomes a pesky addition to the image. The halo effect is very visible especially around the corners of an image.
Of course, Google Pixel users tweeted this problem and shared with whoever owned a Goole Pixel phone.
Now, Google is saying that an update will solve the problem with a little bit of help from math equations. The camera on the Google Pixel smartphone is more vulnerable compared to other phone cameras that are in the market. Photographers say that a lens flare in a camera is normal. But given the boast of Google Inc. about their newly released gadget, this is one dilemma that users can't ignore.
A Google Pixel User Community post mentioned that flare is a property of every camera lens and it comes in diverse shapes and sizes. It can also be used for creative purposes and the amount, color, and size can be attributed to the parameters of the available light and the structure of the camera lens.
Users are advised that they need to use HDR+ to see the benefits of the software update that Google will send. The research and development team from the company has been working on different algorithms that can distinguish the halo lens flare and then delete it from the image.
Customers are advised to wait for the update instead of taking drastic measures like sending the Google Pixel unit back because the replacement will just have the same problem. Google stated that the halo lens flare predicament is part of the software and not the hardware.
