"Sherlock Season 4," which will premiere on January 1, 2017 on the BBC, has a new and terrifying trailer on Sherlock Holmes' (Benedict Cumberbatch) S4 mysteries. Quite concerning is how Mycroft Holmes (Mark Gatiss) seems to be in as much trouble as Sherlock, but would Season 4 see the BBC star become a sacrificial hero?
The BBC trailer, as shown on The Daily Mail, on "Sherlock Season 4" with the added release date detail promised a key character that someone's demon has had a long wait. While the BBC trailer seems to indicate that the demon waits for Sherlock, the montage puzzlingly also switched to Mycroft Holmes.
The "Sherlock Season 4" trailer seems to progressively paint Mycroft Holmes in a shady light. Sherlock Holmes, on the other hand, will apparently encounter something truly horrifying.
Although often clinical and detached, Sherlock Holmes was seen not only involved but also terrifyingly shocked in the Season 4 trailer. Again, the "Sherlock Season 4" trailer invokes the question: who is coming back from the past?
While the default suspicion would be Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott), Benedict Cumberbatch could be heard saying that whoever is coming may be Moriarty or may be someone other than Sherlock Holmes' nemesis.
Parent Herald cites Mark Gatiss in confirming that Jim Moriarty really is dead as far as "Sherlock Season 4" is concerned. Of course, Mark Gatiss did not indicate if Jim Moriarty could possibly come back from the dead.
However Jim Moriarty figures in "Sherlock Season 4" would be closely linked to "Sherrinford." The BBC series has yet to give any indication if Sherrinford pertains to an actual person or a codename related to a top secret government related project.
IGN cites Amanda Abbington in warning that "Sherlock Season 4" is going to be a very dark run for all including her own character, Mary Watson. "Sherlock" fans have been guessing that this is the season when Mary Watson sacrifices her life - either in aid or in betrayal of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson (Martin Freeman).
"Sherlock Season 4" could see not one but two deaths in the persons of Mycroft Holmes and Mary Watson. What is your best guess on the "Sherlock Season 4" puzzles: who will live, who will die and who will return in the BBC series?
