Apple Update & News: The New MacBook Pro No Longer Has The Usual Function Keys. Is It Better That A Touch Bar Replaced It?

The new MacBook Pro no longer has the usual function keys. MacBook Pro now comes with the Touch Bar which is one of the highly talked about feature of this machine.

According to Tech Report, Apple demonstrated the Touch Bar of MacBook Pro during the Oct. 27 Apple event in California. The new MacBook Pro with the Touch Bar was demonstrated using Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, a certain DJ app, and Microsoft Office.

The Touch Bar of MacBook Pro works in tandem with huge trackpad featuring Apple's Taptic Engine haptic feedback system which enables users for a multitude of input options. MacBook Pro comes in either 13-inch and 15-inch form factors, similar to the previous MacBook Pro models but Apple added innovations.

The LCD panel in both MacBook Pro is now made thinner, brighter and has more color compared to the previous MacBook Pros. The 13-inch MacBook Pro comes with dual-core i5 CPU with 2.9GHZ base and 3.3 GHz Turbo speeds. This MacBook Pro also comes with the Touch Bar.

The MacBook Pro 15-inch model gets Skylake quad-core parts starting with 2.6GHz base and 3.5GHz Turbo speeds. This MacBook Pro model still comes with 16GB and a storage options range form 256GB of up to 1TB in 13-inch machines and 256GB to 2TB for the 15-inch MacBook Pro. This MacBook Pro also has the Touch Bar.

As added by Synthopia, the MacBook Pro's Touch Bar is Apple's approach to bringing dynamic touchscreen functionality to laptops. The MacBook Pro Touch Bar will display different buttons and graphics that are related to the current task of the user.

Given the popularity of OS X with musicians and gamers alike, the MacBook Pro developers took advantage of this capability. It only means that MacBook Pro active music app could display the toolbar at the top of the keyboard. This will free the MacBook Pro user from trying to remember which shortcut to use.
