Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson surprised the public revealing that they had already tied the knot months ago. People are now flooding questions into Phelps as to why the couple chose to keep it hushed.
On a Facebook live video, while he is out on a golf trip, the 31-year-old gold medalist Olympian said he had been married for months. He also added that he and his wife intended to keep it a secret from the public eye.
The former beauty queen and his Olympian husband had been dating since the year 2007. The newlyweds have had an on and off relationship but managed to stay together. The two welcomed their first child in May after the disclosure of their engagement in February.
According to a report by USA Today, the exchange of vows took place in Paradise Valley, Arizona where Phelps bought a swanky $2.53 million house. The contemporary Spanish-inspired property sits on almost an acre of land has great views of the Camelback Mountains.
As per Phelps, having a child together earlier to their marriage doesn't give them the need to make the wedding public. TMZ was the first to make the Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson's wedding public. They scored obtaining the newlywed's wedding records.
The person who officiated the nuptials is none other than Michael's close friend and agent Peter Carlisle. During the Rio Olympics, Phelps talked about their wedding plans with People.
"I really can't wait to get married. It's the next big milestone I'm looking forward to." He also expressed their interest in a destination wedding.
Phelps added that a second soon baby in the family may come soon. So, that's not the only hit that Phelps gave after admitting his secret wedding in the same interview. It seems like we have to stay tune for baby number two. But, when it happens, it may not be a secret anymore.
