Microsoft has just unleashed its most generous freebie for the Xbox One, "Borderlands: The Handsome Collection," a game bundle with a $59.99 price tag in Amazon (Buy Digital). The free software is available until Oct. 30 only.
According to Forbes, the gift is part of Microsoft's Multiplayer All-access three-day event, which kicked off on Oct. 27. The announcement was made through a video uploaded by Microsoft on the official YouTube channel of Xbox with the following description: "Calling all friends! Play online with friends FREE AND enjoy a free game unlock of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on us!"
The unique and somewhat futuristic world of the "Borderlands" is presented in a cartoonish or anime type of visual interpretation. "Borderlands" boasts some of the most creative storyline in the FPS (First Person Shooter) genre. The game's creative side earned the first "Borderlands" installment a spot in the prestigious book of Guinness for having the most number of possible guns generated within the game at 17 million, which was surpassed by "Borderland 2's" 17,750,000 guns.
"Borderlands: The Handsome Collection" follows Handsome Jack's escapades as he conquers the planet Pandora and takes control of its resources. The "Borderlands 2" installment immerses the player into Handsome Jack's world of maniacal madness, as his personal security/mercenary in a hostile takeover staged in the barren land of Pandora. "Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel!" on the other hand takes place between its predecessor's timeline. Four of Handsome Jack's henchmen are available for the player to control. The story foretells the events in "Borderlands 2" as Handsome Jack rose to power with the help of his loyal henchmen.
Microsoft's multiplayer all-access event could be one of Xbox One's redeeming factor after taking a beating from Sony's PS4 in the infamous "War of the Consoles." A generous gift like "Borderlands: The handsome Jack Collection" from Microsoft will likely produce the audience it needs to get even in the field dominated by Sony since day one.
