After the disappointing first game loss at the hands of the mighty San Antonio Spurs, scouts all over the league believed that the weakness of the All-Star team, Golden State Warriors was exposed and how it will impact the Warriors' future, according to Bleacher Report.
The hype and speculations did not go as expected for the super team. The Spurs dominated the whole game and exposed the weakness of the team on every angle. Absorbing all the energy out of the home team fans and the Golden State Warriors which is the mastery of Spurs' coach, Greg Popovich.
It was a blowout win for the San Antonio Spurs, 129-100. The Spurs pounded the interior defense and continuously exploiting the Dubs' weakness since they let go of Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barnes to sign NBA superstar, Kevin Durant.
After the first game, the Warriors were determined to prove that the defense on their first game would not only be the basis of their entire season. The Dubs' second game was different. Warriors center, Zaza Pachulia said that they really expected for a better result than their first game, via USA TODAY. A 122-114 win over the rising New Orleans Pelicans relying on their lone superstar, Anthony Davis.
Pachulia points out a better team effort in their second game than the Dubs' game opener against the Spurs where they have pushed around and was blown out for their interior defense. The Warriors will score relentlessly whenever and however but may have problems with their defense now that former center Andrew Bogut is gone.
In a report by The Mercury News, Golden State Warriors head coach, Steve Kerr said that they were not energized on their first game where they were embarrassed and took things for granted. Dubs' all-star guard Stephen Curry stated that when you give the Spurs the rebounding advantage especially on the offensive glass, the game would definitely be one sided.
As a result, the second game was a bit of success and team improved their NBA record to 1-1. New acquisition Kevin Durant led the team with 17 boards and does not mind becoming a rebounding force as long as the team wins. Curry and Durant believe that as the season goes along, the team will get better and improve on their flaws. There is still a lot of time and a lot of room for improvement.
