ISIS claimed responsibility for a deadly stabbing attack in Germany earlier this month. The said attack took the life of one teen, while another minor still undergoing psychiatric treatment.
One Islamic State soldier reportedly stabbed an individual in Hamburg City on Oct.16, while leaving a girl traumatized by witnessing such knife attack. The said soldier carried out the operation in his pursuit to call the attention of the citizens of coalition countries. The incident is linked to ISIS attack as claimed by jihadist group Islamic State, according to a report by The Local De.
German police officers still do not have clear grounds to verify the claim. It is also theorized to be another ISIS-inspired attack. "We are aware of the statement and have to check the content thoroughly in regard to its reliability," said a spokesman for the prosecutor's office who spoke on condition of anonymity as quoted by Fox News.
The two minors were a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl and were said to be sitting on the waterside of a Hamburg lake when the incident happened. A man approached them from behind and stabbed the boy several times using a knife. The said man also pushed the girl into the water and fled afterward. The boy was rushed to the hospital but was not able to make it. The girl was not injured but was sent to the hospital for psychiatric treatment after the attack. The attacker was described as a male from 25 to 30 years old.
The homicide division has been investigating the murder. Terrorism is not a primary consideration as of the moment.
Hamburg police spokesman Timo Zill said that they are still at the onset of the investigation and there are no clear grounds yet. Hence it is not good to speculate about the possible attacker and his motive yet.
Aussenalster lake is a famous leisure time spot and the incident actually gave a shock to the locals. The place where the attack happened were decorated by friends of the teenage couple with flowers, candles, and balloons.
