'The Flash' Movie Latest News & Updates: Director Rick Famuwiy's Flashier Exit, DC Movie In Trouble?

Dope director Rick Famuwiya has exited Warner Bros.' upcoming The Flash movie due to "creative differences" with the studio. Famuwiya was on board the project since June of this year following the departure of Seth Grahame-Smith from the project in April.

"When I was approached by Warner Bros and DC about the possibility of directing The Flash, I was excited about the opportunity to enter this amazing world of characters that I loved growing up, and still do to this day," Famuyiwa said in his statement to Comingsoon. He mentioned the excitement working with Ezra Miller, a phenomenal young actor.

"I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humor, and heart. While it's disappointing that we couldn't come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity. I will continue to look for opportunities to tell stories that speak to a fresh generational, topical, and multicultural point of view. I wish Warner Brothers, DC, Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, and Ezra Miller all the best as they continue their journey into the speed force," the outgoing 'The Flash' movie director added.

The production of the film is slated to begin in Spring of 2017 for a 2018 release. This means there might be some delay to production due to this unforeseen latest development. There is also word that Ezra Miller (whose playing The Flash), has also commitments already for next summer, which means another delay for the film.

The silver screen has shown Ezra Miller's version of The Flash in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the recent Suicide Squad. Miller leads a cast line up which includes Kiersey Clemons (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) as Iris West, Billy Crudup (Watchmen) as Barry's father Henry Allen, and Ray Fisher as the superhero Cyborg. Both Flash and Cyborg are part of the upcoming Justice League cast. We'll both be seeing the two in action alongside fellow Justice Leaguers Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and Superman (Henry Cavill) when the film hits the silver screen November 17, 2017.
