CEO of Sega Sammy Holdings, Hajime Satomi has confirmed about the film "Sonic The Hedgehog," and the company is already collaborating with Sony Pictures in creating the film. "Sonic The Hedgehog" movie is going to be a live-action and a hybrid animation. Similar to CG animation production, the company is looking to expand their business to another medium and beyond the current involvement with gaming.
"Sonic The Hedgehog" movie is set to welcome "Deadpool" director Tim Miller. This time, Tim Miller is going to serve as an executive producer for "Sonic The Hedgehog" movie. Miller will also work alongside Neal H. Moritz from "Fast & Furious" films.
"Sonic The Hedgehog" was created by Sega in 1991 and was one of the famous game characters of the 1990s, according to Cinemablend. More than two decades have passed and Sonic remains to be a favorite game character. "Sonic The Hedgehog" movie is set to be released in the theaters in 2018, however, no announcement yet has been made about the exact date. "Sonic Mania" will be released in the second quarter of 2017 and "Project Sonic" is set to be released in the fourth quarter of the same year.
