Julian Kaye, "American Gigolo's" main character, enjoys his life as a male escort. He is in a superficial world where he gets tangled up with the wife of a politician.
Now, a reboot of the film is in works. Paramount TV had been working with Neil LaBute for two years for the "American Gigolo" television series script. They are also working with Jerry Bruckheimer as the producer of "American Gigolo" series, as reported by Deadline.
It's important the "American Gigolo" reboot must have a taste of the film. That is why Paul Schrader, the director of the film, will also work with them as an executive consultant.
The film was a turning point to almost all of its stars. Aside from Richard Gere, Lauren Hutton also became a film star from a model because of "American Gigolo," reported by Daily Mail.
It can be recalled that "American Gigolo" isn't the first time Paramount work with a film to a television drama series. Italian Job, Shutter Island, and a special of Grease was also developed into a reboot or a television drama series in the past.
There is still no pilot date for "American Gigolo." However, more details are said to be revealed before the year ends.
