‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Updates: Episode 1 ‘The Six Thatchers’; It Will Be A Dark Season And Everyone Will Be In Danger

After a creepy special episode "The Abominable Bride," fans of "Sherlock" have waited so long for the next episode. But now it's finally finished! The fourth season has been filmed and is on its way to TV screens, or PCs.

When Will It Air?

It's going to be an exciting New Year for "Sherlock" fans as BBC has officially confirmed that the premiere episode titled "The Six Thatchers" will be released on January 1, 2017, giving fans another reason to look forward and celebrate this New Year!

Season 4 Trailer

The new "Sherlock" Season 4 trailer shows a pretty dark and action-packed season. It starts off with a glitchy footage of Moriarty, saying "Did you miss me?" similar to the end of "Sherlock" Season 3. Does this mean that Moriarty is alive and back? "Something is coming...maybe it's Moriarty, maybe it's not," says Sherlock, apparently not ruling out the possibility that his archnemesis is somehow returning.

Toby Jones can be seen a few times, promising Sherlock "endless fun," although Sherlock responded "No, not endless." Is this some hint that season 4 will be the last?

"Get out of my house, you reptile!" said an obviously infuriated Mrs. Hudson kicking Mycroft Holmes out of her apartment. What did Mycroft do that angered the lovely land lady?

"This isn't a game!" Molly twisting the classic Sherlock catchphrase and adding some sense of fear not everyone is going to make it out of these upcoming "Sherlock" season alive.

Plots and Episode Titles

According to Digitalspy, the first two episode titles of "Sherlock" were released during the UK fan event Sherlocked in September, and the BCC allowed the rest of the fans to catch up by posting them online.

BBC One tweeted "We can confirm that the titles of #Sherlock Series Four, episodes one and two are'The Six Thatchers' and 'The Lying Detective.'"

Fans were quick to suggest that the "Sherlock" episode "The Six Thatchers" is a play on Conan Doyle's short story "The six Napoleons." Meanwhile, "The Lying Detective" could be a spin on "The Dying Detective." It is theorized that the Thatcher in question is the former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the episode will likely feature a murder connected to the vandalizing or breaking of six Maggie Thatcher tribute.

The synopsis for the "The Lying Detective" is presumed where Toby Jones appears as the new villain and Sherlock will convince everyone that he is dying. This is then speculated to be a good turning point to mark its ending.

The third episode title of "Sherlock" has yet to be announced.
