The San Francisco City Attorney's Office is bent on suing the developers of the Millennium Tower because of the sinking of the skyscraper. The Millennium Tower, located in the business district of San Francisco, is a 58 story building that was opened in 2009. Over time, the building has already gone down a few inches into the ground and has even tilted a bit.
According to Forbes, the building is in an earthquake zone which makes it extremely dangerous. Experts are puzzled as to why the building has a foundation that allows sinking especially in an earthquake zone.
What's more is that the Law Office also questions why the owners of the building have not revealed to the buyers of this issue. This lawsuit is only the first of many more lawsuits that are to come. Although the building may not be at risk of falling over as of the moment, the possibility of further sinking of the building is very apparent and may continue to happen some time in the future or over time.
On the side of the owners of the Millennium Towers, the reason for the sinking of the building would be due to another building construction beside the Towers lead by Transbay Transit Center, although Transbay Transit Center has denied that their construction had anything to do with the Millennium Towers' sinking, according to Business Insider.
The Law Office argued though, that the developers of the Millennium Towers already knew the building was going to sink even before it was built. This was because the building was founded on sand as compared to rocks which would naturally make the foundation of the building very weak. This prompted the Law Office to suspect that the developers planned the sinking all along.
Although there has been no concrete action by both sides yet, the San Francisco City Attorney's Office is still actively pursuing the case of this building following the complaints of several residents on the sinking.
