"Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 is expected to see the return of Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) though it may not happen too soon. "Legends of Tomorrow" showrunner Marc Guggenheim had already hinted the comeback of Rip who is suggested to have changed a lot. It remains to be seen what happened to the leader of the Legends after maneuvering the Waverider to destroy the atomic bomb.
"Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 is expected to reveal Rip's faith after a few more episodes according to Entertainment Weekly's interview with Guggenheim. Guggenheim confirmed Rip's return but he also said that Rip is no longer the serious Time Master who aims to lead the Legends. Fans might see a reinvented Rip who has already moved on from the troubles of his past and now wants to enjoy his life, apparently.
"Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 is then suggested to see a shift in leadership which has already started earlier in this season. Currently, Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) acts as the leader of the Legends after Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) gave up the position. It seems to stay that way even if Rip returns on "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2.
It is important to note that Sara has been doing good as the new captain of the Waverider. It can be recalled that Dr. Stein was initially elected to take the responsibility but he was not able to make quick decisions when necessary. Sara took over as captain on "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 2 when Dr. Stein admitted that Sara is more capable of leading and gave her the authority to decide for the Legends.
Meanwhile, Guggenheim also revealed that Rip's return will be part of "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 twist. He said that viewers will be the first to know about Rip's whereabouts before the Legends find him. This could mean that Rip is just out there having his own adventures or he could also be fixing the timeline on his own.
"Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 is airing every Thursday on The CW. In the meantime, check out "Legends of Tomorrow" Season 2 Episode 5 preview below. You can also drop your thoughts in our comments section to tell us your guesses on Rip's location.
