The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was rushed off stage, after an apparent security threat on Saturday evening at a rally in Reno, Nevada.
Just three days before Election Day, while delivering a speech, Trump was rushed off stage by two U.S. Secret Service agents after a commotion in the crowd near the front of the stage just after 6 p.m.
According to Time, several civilians informed reporters that they saw a person with a gun at the rally. It was only after some supporters shouted ''he's got a gun" did the agents rushed to protect Donald Trump.
Secret Service spokesperson stated that a commotion occurred in the crowd and an "unidentified individual" shouted "gun." Immediately, Secret Service agents and police officers apprehended the subject but after a "thorough search" no weapon was found. An Anonymous law enforcement official said that no weapon was recovered and that it appears that the crowd overreacted.
The man was later identified as Austyn Crites, a registered Republican. "I just went with a sign that said 'Republicans Against Trump,'" said Crites. "All of a sudden, because they couldn't grab the sign, or whatever happened, bam, I get tackled by all these people who were just, like, kicking me and grabbing me in the crotch and just, just beating the crap out of me."
Crites was detained and led out by Secret Service agents, police, and SWAT officers to a side room. He was then released with no charges filed against him.
About ten minutes after the incident, Donald Trump returned to the stage unharmed to continue to deliver his speech. "Nobody said it would be easy for us, but we will never be stopped. I want to thank the Secret Service. These guys are fantastic" Donald Trump said, before continuing with his speech.
After the event, Donald Trump flew to Denver for his final event of the day. Share your thoughts and comment below!
