'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Star Camille Grammer Hailed As A Cancer Advocate

Camille Grammer, star of the Bravo reality show "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," was honored with the 2016 Public Service Award last Sunday, Nov. 6. The meaningful award was given to the reality star for her involvement as Chair of the National Race to End Women's Cancer in Washington, DC.

According to the foundation's website, the 5k race has now raised close to $400,000. These funds aim to further the group's causes.

The End Women's Cancer advocacy calls on women cancer survivors, their loved ones, doctors and health practitioners to help spread awareness on gynecologic diseases and fund campaigns against cancer. The event, first started in 2009, joins together volunteers and sponsors nationwide to celebrate the foundation's ongoing efforts on gynecologic cancer.

This year, RHOBH mainstay Grammer took part of the race and even accepted the role of being the voice and chair of the initiative. The advocacy is extra personal to Grammer because she is a cancer survivor herself.

Grammer was diagnosed with endometrial cancer back in 2013. Thankfully, she caught the disease in its early stage. She gives credit to her radial hysterectomy treatment for her recovery and remission.

According to E! Online, other celebrities who were past recipients of the same award include Barbra Walters and Larry King. On her Twitter account, Grammer shared her excitement on being in the same league as the respected TV hosts. She is grateful to say that this year's National Race to End Women's Cancer was a tremendous success.

Grammer's public service award shows a different side to the celebrity. "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" stars are known for their outlandish lifestyle and the controversial drama played out in the reality show.

"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" Season 7 is set to premiere on Bravo later this year.
