LastPass Now Offers Unlimited Device Sync For Free

Designed to help improve security on different devices, LastPass is an app that helps generate and store randomized passwords for users. Before, their free service didn't include unlimited access for mobile devices. Now, with their new pricing model, LastPass offers access from any device for free.

Previously subscribed users on premium regain their access as well as all their added features, as reported by Engadget. In addition to the suite of free services, LastPass now offers two-factor authentication, smart password generation, and password syncing, all without further charges. LastPass vice president Joe Siegrist said in a statement that "Today's reality is that people's digital lives are increasingly in the cloud" pointing to the rise of cloud computing options in the digital market.

Siegrist adds that this would mean that our online interactions would "inherently span countless personal and work devices," and that LastPass believes "that to truly benefit from the security and convenience of a password manager, it should be available whenever and wherever you need it."

The senior corporate leader believes that "By offering LastPass for free across all your devices, we're making it that much easier for everyone to make good password habits the norm, while resetting the expectations of what a great password management experience should be in a multi-device world." Ever since its purchase by LogMeIn last year for close to $110 million, its rankings from both the App Store and Google Play remained the same, reports TechCrunch based on a review by App Annie.

Rankings that stabilize over time and the additional users it will gain will likely improve LastPass' ratings among a number of password management and security apps. Premium users will approve of the new extra features slated to their end, with family sharing of up to five users, 1GB of encrypted file storage, YubiKey authentication, and other two-factor login integrations with services such as Authy.

For desktop users, fingerprint identification and desktop app integration is also available. Due to the change to a freemium financing model, however, users without the Premium subscription will now see ads show up in LastPass.
