AXN's crime thriller "Absentia" is slowly building its cast members, and Patrick Heusinger has just been signed for a lead role. He will play as Stana Katic's partner.
Patrick Heusinger is joining the cast of a new series "Absentia," Deadline reported. He is going to play as the husband of Stana Katic's character.
Stana Katic was earlier announced to be playing the lead female character in "Absentia." Her role is an FBI agent who went missing for six years. She was hunting for a notorious serial killer in Boston when she disappeared without a trace, after which she was presumed dead.
But she emerged six years later, with no memory of her past. She will find out that her husband, to be played by Patrick Heusinger, has remarried, and their son is being raised by another woman.
Deadline said Patrick Heusinger's character is also an FBI agent, who will be torn in doing his duty as an agent. He still loves his first wife (Stana Katic).
"Absentia" is set to have 10 episodes, and the production is scheduled to begin early next year. The crime thriller for Sony Pictures Television Networks' AXN is expected to premiere sometime in 2017 too in AXN's worldwide channels, according to TVLine. In the United States, though, the new series is yet to find a home. Sony Pictures will handle the U.S. distribution.
Patrick Heusinger recently appeared in "Casual" on Hulu, "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" on Bravo, and "Revolution" on NBC. He also co-starred in "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" with Tom Cruise.
Stana Katic is popularly known as Detective Kate Beckett in "Castle" on ABC. The series was cancelled last May.
"Absentia" is written and executive produced by Matt Cirulnick. Oded Ruskin ("False Flag") is directing all the 10 episodes. Masha TV's Maria Feldman and Julie Glucksman are the producers along with Ruskin.
